Sapphic Book Bingo 2024 - stats, winners & most-read books

As 2024 draws to a close, so does the Sapphic Book Bingo 2024. I hope you enjoyed participating as much as I did organizing it!

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the readers who joined the reading challenge, to the authors who generously donated books for the big giveaway, and to Erin, who tirelessly helped compile blurbs and links for each post.

Sapphic Book Bingo 2024 stats

Here’s a glimpse at some interesting stats about the Sapphic Book Bingo 2024:

  • 3,138 readers downloaded a Sapphic Book Bingo card, with many more following the weekly book recommendation posts to find new books to read, even if they didn’t officially participate in the Sapphic Book Bingo.
  • 880 readers joined the Sapphic Book Bingo Goodreads group.
  • 804 readers sent in a book bingo card. Note: Cards are still arriving in my inbox, but I only counted the books that were send in within one hour after the deadline (10 a.m. German time on December 31).
  • A remarkable 49,044 sapphic books were read for the Sapphic Book Bingo.
  • The average number of books each reader read for the Sapphic Book Bingo was 61.
  • 65% of participants completed not just a regular bingo card, but also at least one Hidden Gem card, which represents harder-to-find genres and themes.
  • The reader with the most books read for Sapphic Book Bingo read a total of 624 sapphic books in 2024!

More important than the numbers, though, is how much readers enjoyed the Sapphic Book Bingo. I heard from many readers who said the reading challenge introduced them to new authors and new books they never would have found—or given a chance—otherwise.

I got dozens of reader emails that said something like “there were several prompts that really forced me to try something new and different from what I’d normally try, and I was pleasantly surprised by some of them,” or “I have enjoyed so many of the books and I’m grateful that the challenge forces me out of my comfort zone to explore books that I might not otherwise read.”

The winners of the Sapphic Book Bingo giveaway

Using a random number generator, I drew 15 winners from this year’s participants:

  • 5 winners who sent in a bingo card with one complete line. They each won 1 ebook. The winners are: Anette R., Isa T., Lori S., Trix A., and Vickie B.
  • 5 winners who sent in a completed Hidden Gems card. They each won 2 ebooks. The winners are: Caillie M., Elena, Jonna H., Kacie M., and Sarah E.
  • 5 winners who sent in a completed regular bingo card. They each won a bundle of 5 books (ebooks or paperbacks or a mix of both—winner’s choice). The winners are: Amy Z., Ange A., Finley F., Marisol G., and Nicole M.
  • Congratulations! If you are one of the winners, keep an eye on your in-box. I’ll email you today to send you the list of book prizes to choose from.

  1. Hi Jae
I was one of those who started the card, but then just choose new authors, or genres I wouldn’t normally read, or new books from authors who I had grown to love, all from the lists that you recommended. I am amazed and truly grateful, for how hard you work on our behalf. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Eve

  2. I didn’t participate in the contest, but I used the lists to make note of new authors, titles and/or genres. My TBR list has expanded. Thanks for all you do!

  3. I love what you write (exception your fantasy novels – a genre I do not care for at all), and find it fantastic when other authors grab personae of your worlds and put them into their books (e.g. when Chris Zett lets her characters listen to Jenna Blake songs). You have provided countless hours of pure entertainment for me, and I cannot thank you enough for it. (By the way, why is “Under A Falling Star” not also listed under the Character is a CEO-category?)
Can’t wait for your next book!
    Love,
    Corinna

  4. Once again thank you for running BINGO – every time I see the word I have to sing the song. Do you have the B-I-N-G-O song in Germany? I especially love the Hidden Gems suggestions. BTW did you publish their stats or did I just miss them?
    Huzzah!!
