Writing hours in March 2016

It’s April 1–April Fools’ Day! But don’t worry; I’m not going to fool you. I’m just reporting in with what I’ve been up to in March. :-) I’m very happy to say that I just sent the final, edited and revised version of my upcoming historical romance Shaken to the Core off to my publisher. My editor really liked it, so I hope my readers will too. The novel now also has a cover, which I really like. What do you think? A reader of mine just pointed out that while I had shared my accomplishments of 2015 and my goals for 2016, I haven’t yet posted my writing hours for December. Oops! Can you believe it? The end of the year is already just around the corner. At Ylva, we’re hard at work preparing our books for the holiday season. In fact, we just put together a video of all our holiday-themed books: Of course, there’ll also be new romance novels and other books coming out in December. Writing hours in August 2015

Fall has officially started–and the weather turned cooler and rainy here in Germany right on time. Not that I mind after the very hot summer we had. Meanwhile, I’ve been working hard to wrap up several of my projects so my readers will have more reading material this winter. I finished my romance novel Just Physical, which ended up at 100,000 words. I’m very happy with how the story turned out. It’s with the editor right now, and I’m hoping the required revisions won’t be too extensive. I also finished the edits for Rosen für die Staatsanwältin, the German version of …

Writing hours in June 2015

It’s the beginning of July, which means three things: 1. I’m leaving for my vacation / writers’ & readers’ conference in New Orleans next week. Yay! 2. There’s a heat wave in Germany. Right now, we’re having 102 degrees (39 degrees Celsius). Probably a good preparation for New Orleans, right? 3. It’s time to update my blog with my monthly working hours. So here they are. Writing hours in May 2015

Hard to believe that almost half the year is gone already, isn’t it? We’re definitely heading toward summer here in Germany, and I’ve been working hard to wrap up some of my projects before my vacation in July. I finished the final revisions of Next of Kin, the second book in the Portland Police Bureau series, and the short story that goes with it, “Change of Pace.” I also started to translate the novel into German. On the nonfiction front, I’m still working on Time Management for Writers and putting the strategies to good use to become more productive myself. …

It’s April’s Fools’ Day today, and our weather is playing tricks on unsuspecting people here in southwestern Germany. We had hail this morning, and five minutes later, the sun was shining. Typical April weather. Thank God I’m more consistent than the weather when it comes to my writing :-) My first nonfiction book and the first one I published under my own name, Goal Setting for Writers, has been published in March. March has begun and with it, spring. Maybe not all over the world, but we had gorgeous sunshine here in southwestern Germany today. February seemed to be over in the blink of an eye. I had two new books out within one week–the paranormal romance novel Good Enough to Eat, which I co-wrote with fellow Ylva author Alison Grey, and Auf schmalem Grat, the German version of my romantic suspense novel Conflict of Interest. Writing Hours in December 2014

The new year is a few days old already, and I just realized that I haven’t posted the numbers for December yet. At the end of the month, it’s been one year since I became a full-time writer–and what an incredible year! I spend the last month of 2014 mostly working to finish my nonfiction book, Goal Setting for Writers. I got some great feedback from my beta readers, and the manuscript is now with the editor. Hard to believe that it’s already December and Christmas is just three weeks away. Maybe it would help if we had any snow to make it feel more like the holiday season, but so far, not a single snowflake in sight over here, just dreary, damp weather. Well, it’s good weather for staying in and writing, though. November has been another productive month.
