It’s the middle of December already, and I only now get around to posting my numbers for November, which gives you a good indication of how busy I am. I’m very excited to say that I got started on my new historical romance, Shaken to the Core, at the beginning of December. Now I’m 20,000 words into the story and enjoying it very much. What else is new? As you might know, my romance novel Just Physical has been out for a couple of weeks now, and reviews have been great. Writing hours in October 2015

Can you believe it? The end of the year is already just around the corner. At Ylva, we’re hard at work preparing our books for the holiday season. In fact, we just put together a video of all our holiday-themed books: Of course, there’ll also be new romance novels and other books coming out in December. Writing hours in May 2015

Hard to believe that almost half the year is gone already, isn’t it? We’re definitely heading toward summer here in Germany, and I’ve been working hard to wrap up some of my projects before my vacation in July. I finished the final revisions of Next of Kin, the second book in the Portland Police Bureau series, and the short story that goes with it, “Change of Pace.” I also started to translate the novel into German. On the nonfiction front, I’m still working on Time Management for Writers and putting the strategies to good use to become more productive myself. …

Keeping track of writing time

In interviews or when I talk to readers, I often get asked how long it takes me to write a novel. I usually answer things like, “About a year” or “It took eleven months to write Hidden Truths.” But when it comes to actual writing time, I have no clue how many hours it takes to write a novel.
