Get the Hollywood series at a reduced price during Oscar weekend

It’s Oscar weekend! To celebrate, Ylva Publishing is rolling out the red carpet and offering my Hollywood series at a reduced price. Each book can stand on its own and has different main characters: Departure from the Script is a novella (short novel) about Amanda, an actress who struggles to get her career off the ground. At an anti-Valentine’s party, she meets butch photographer Michelle. She has never been attracted to butch women before, but Michelle has her consider a departure from her dating script. Damage Control is a slow-burn romance in which world-famous actress Grace is caught in a …

Writing hours in November 2015

It’s the middle of December already, and I only now get around to posting my numbers for November, which gives you a good indication of how busy I am. I’m very excited to say that I got started on my new historical romance, Shaken to the Core, at the beginning of December. Now I’m 20,000 words into the story and enjoying it very much. What else is new? As you might know, my romance novel Just Physical has been out for a couple of weeks now, and reviews have been great. In Just Physical, the two main characters–actress Jill Corrigan and stuntwoman Kristine …

Writing hours in May 2015

Hard to believe that almost half the year is gone already, isn’t it? We’re definitely heading toward summer here in Germany, and I’ve been working hard to wrap up some of my projects before my vacation in July. I finished the final revisions of Next of Kin, the second book in the Portland Police Bureau series, and the short story that goes with it, “Change of Pace.” I also started to translate the novel into German. On the nonfiction front, I’m still working on Time Management for Writers and putting the strategies to good use to become more productive myself. …

Giveaway: Win my lesbian romance “Damage Control” and a cute lynx

The Ylva wolf has a new sibling… Well, more a temporary guest in her den. This cute little stuffed lynx is identical to the one that Grace Durand, the main character of my new romance novel Damage Control, gives to Lauren after winning it at the arcade. Since wolves and lynx probably don’t mix well, I’m giving the lynx away along with a signed paperback copy of Damage Control. To make things a little more interesting, here’s what you have to do to win the lynx and the paperback: Send me an e-mail with the name that Lauren gives the …

Writing Hours in April 2015

It’s hard to believe that it’s May already! Only two more months until I’m flying to New Orleans for the GCLS conference and some vacation time. Speaking of vacation time… I spent a few days in Hamburg this month, which is at the other end of Germany from where I live. April was a great month for me, not just because of that trip but also because my contemporary romance Damage Control was published at the beginning of the month.   I’ve been hard at work on revising Next of Kin, which is now reading so much more smoothly! I …

How long does it take to write a novel?

When I tell people I’m a writer, most of them ask me one of two questions: “Where do you get your ideas?” Or “How long does it take to write a book?” Since I had a new novel out this month, I thought I’d answer both of these questions. I came up with the idea for my contemporary romance Damage Control in February 2014, while I was working on Departure from the Script, book 1 in the Hollywood Series. Michelle, the butch main character of Departure from the Script, expresses her admiration for Grace Durand, an actress who, according to …

My new lesbian romance novel, Damage Control, is out!

You would think that after publishing ten books (not counting the novellas and short story collections), having a new novel out would get old. Well, it doesn’t. My tenth novel, Damage Control, has just been published, and I’ve been grinning like a fool ever since Astrid, my publisher, told me she had just uploaded it to the major bookstores. For some reason, this book feels special. Not that my other books aren’t near and dear to my heart—they are. But this one is extra special. Maybe because at 140,000 words it’s one of my longer works after I wrote a …

Writing hours in March 2015

It’s April’s Fools’ Day today, and our weather is playing tricks on unsuspecting people here in southwestern Germany. We had hail this morning, and five minutes later, the sun was shining. Typical April weather. Thank God I’m more consistent than the weather when it comes to my writing :-) My first nonfiction book and the first one I published under my own name, Goal Setting for Writers, has been published in March. I wrapped up my newest romance novel, Damage Control, which will be published later this month! My beta readers had wonderful things to say about the novel, so …

Writing hours in January 2015

February is halfway over, and I just realize that I haven’t posted the numbers for January yet. Well, better late than never, right? January was incredibly busy, as anyone I still owe an e-mail can attest to. I got started on writing my new romance novel, Damage Control, on January 1. Now I’m almost 97,000 words into the story…and the two main characters haven’t even kissed yet! I think it’s safe to say that this is going to be one of my longer books. I also wrote a new short story in January. “The Snow Liger” is part of my shape-shifter …

Writing Hours in December 2014

The new year is a few days old already, and I just realized that I haven’t posted the numbers for December yet. At the end of the month, it’s been one year since I became a full-time writer–and what an incredible year! I spend the last month of 2014 mostly working to finish my nonfiction book, Goal Setting for Writers. I got some great feedback from my beta readers, and the manuscript is now with the editor. I also did a lot of research for my newest romance novel, Damage Control, which I started on January 1. I’m already 8,000 words …
