Love Spanks 2015: Free short stories

Spanks-Lovespanks-2015

Love Spanks 2015 is over!

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. The winners will be announced on Valentine’s Day, so please check back.

The short stories are no longer available online, but you can find them in the anthology Love Spanks 2015: A Collection of Lesbian Romance Stories. You can pre-order the anthology, which will be available on February 14.

If you want to read more about the shape-shifting characters from “The Snow Liger,” take a look at my novels Second Nature and True Nature

Second Nature

Second Nature

Novelist Jorie Price doesn’t believe in the existence of shape-shifting creatures or true love. She leads a solitary life, and the paranormal romances she writes are pure fiction for her.

Griffin Westmore knows better—at least about one of these two things. She doesn’t believe in love either, but she’s one of the not-so-fictional shape-shifters. She’s also a Saru, an elite soldier with the mission to protect the shape-shifters’ secret existence at any cost.

When Jorie gets too close to the truth in her latest shape-shifter romance, Griffin is sent to investigate—and if necessary to destroy the manuscript before it’s published and to kill the writer.

About Jae

Jae grew up amidst the vineyards of southern Germany. She spent her childhood with her nose buried in a book, earning her the nickname “professor.” The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven. For the last eight years, she has been writing mostly in English.

She used to work as a psychologist but gave up her day job in December 2013 to become a full-time writer and a part-time editor. As far as she’s concerned, it’s the best job in the world. When she’s not writing, she likes to spend her time reading, indulging her ice cream and office supply addictions, and watching way too many crime shows.

  1. Hi Jae, seems like Griffin really needs all the warmth she can get and that Jorie’s hands wander up below Griffin’s shirt is so not nice. Freezing cold hands …. Yuck!
I am glad that the experiment in the snow ended in a warmer and cozier place. :) Thank you for the scene, I enjoyed reading it a lot.

(I think I entered Love spanks under the nick ‘awesomesub’ because it is part of my email address.)

  2. i love the short story. To hear a little more about Griffin and Jorie is wonderful. This series is one of my favorites. To have a main character that is not 20 and a size 2 is so terrific. Leaves me wanting more.

  3. I love this story, Jae. It was the first shifter story that made sense to me. I hadn’t seen the attraction before, but you make it real. I love the recipe for “cooking” raw meat and the idea of beta testing cold endurance. I still love the line about being a weather wimp.

Thank you for joining Love Spanks! So happy to have you join us.

  4. I’m not a huge reader of fantasy books but this story has me intrigued and would like to know more about the characters…

  5. loved.. LOVED the you tube videos for research… i have NOT idea what that’s about *cough* loved the ‘feel’ of this story… it moved along, sweeping us with it :D

  6. Jae, I still have Second Nature on my to be read pile but I will be bringing it closer to the top now. I really. Enjoyed this SS and am eager to read more of Jorie and Griffin. I didn’t expect the freezing cold fingers and laughed at Griffin’s reaction.

  7. Jorie and Griffin are two of my all time favourite characters. Thanks so much for this story treat. Do you plan any more novels in this series?

  8. I love shifter stories, and Griffin caught my eye.. the cold snowy picnic I would think would not work..lol… I live in Minnesota..

  9. I like the present day, real world references (YouTube, Grumpy Cat, NaNoWriMo)! And that you got to use “curiosity killed the cat” :D The panic about Jorie cooking and the shock of icy cold fingers was funny. I liked the part where Jorie suggested that they should act out what they researched – it felt natural! Thank you for sharing your story, I quite enjoyed it!

  10. Okay, so shape shifters are some of my favorite stories and cats are my absolute favorite animal but that did not mean I would like the story. However, I really liked this story. Living in the south I can fully understand a cat’s dislike of cold, snow and cold. They love sun, warmth and no snow. The story really made sense and was fun. Can’t wait to get the rest of their story. Thanks. R

  11. You had me at a 400 lb heroine and the definitions of seasons in the UP. Ice cold fingers can definitely change the mood! I look forward to reading second nature.

  12. what a great short story. The humor was delightful and kept me laughing. I can hardly wait for the rest of the story. I loved the bit about the 20 pounds of raw meat.

  13. Thank you for this delightful story! As a cat person who loves paranormal and shapeshifting, I’m really looking forward to reading more about Jorie and Griffin, I could feel the shivers from Jorie’s cold hands and loved her grumbling that her beta reader was right lol . My Kindle is filling up fast from Love Spanks and I love it <3

just in case, I'm Joanne Best for Love Spanks, oh and also, VIP :)

  14. i really enjoyed this story, the way Griffin & Jorie interact, personally i love snow [i can’t be a liger LOL] so it made the scene more fun to read for me! i love the shifter idea adding strength & height to your liger character it made for more details.

  15. Love this story and can definitely agree with Griffin…this kitty hates cold weather! also! Looking forward to more about this couple. ;)

  16. Wow, I am coming across some different stories. A liger, cool. So I take it she is not a were, but shapeshifter. It looks like I well be getting that anthology. Thanks for the share.
