Angsty sapphic romance (Sapphic Book Bingo 2023 #15)

This week’s Sapphic Book Bingo category features angsty sapphic romance novels.

An angsty or high-angst romance is a book in which the author puts the characters (and the readers) through the emotional wringer.

When it comes to romance novels, “angst” usually means that the characters are going through inner turmoil and painful emotions such as longing, dread, fear, pain, and insecurity. There might be trauma and heartbreak before they characters finally get their happily ever after.

New sapphic author (Sapphic Book Bingo 2023 #14)

I’m always trying to help out new sapphic authors who are just getting started or who aren’t very well-known yet, so for this week’s category of the Sapphic Book Bingo, please read a book written by a new or new-to-you author.

sapphic book with a stunning cover

Sapphic book with a stunning or unusual cover (Book Unicorn #7)

For this week’s Sapphic Book Bingo, read a sapphic book with a cover that is stunning, unusual, or stands out in some way.

Of course, “stunning” is a very subjective term, and what stands out to one person might be considered nothing special by another. So for this category, just go by whatever cover you think is amazing or unusual in some way.

I picked the books I recommend for this category either because they won a GCLS Tee Corinne Award for Outstanding Cover Design or because they were among the top 10 favorite covers voted on by readers in my Facebook group.

Sapphic book with a same-sex wedding (Sapphic Book Bingo 2023 #13)

It’s been 8 years since the US Supreme Court has struck down all bans on same-sex marriage, legalizing it in all US states. That’s why this week’s Sapphic Book Bingo category celebrates sapphic books with a same-sex wedding.

The wedding needs to play an important role in the book, so it can’t be just the two main characters getting married in the last chapter or epilogue.

Sapphic book with an immigrant or expat character (Book Unicorn #6)

This month’s Book Unicorn category of the Sapphic Book Bingo features sapphic books with a main character who’s either an immigrant or an expat.

Both expats and immigrants are people who left their native country and now live elsewhere. The difference between an immigrant and an expat is that immigrants move from the country of their birth to another country to live there permanently, while expats (expatriates) have relocated abroad only temporarily.

But sometimes, the situation changes, so someone can start out as an expat and then stay permanently, as it happened in my novel Shaken to the Core.
